Forum Energy Technologies (FET) has secured a contract with a major shipbuilding group to supply a European navy with of a state-of-the-art remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The Super Mohawk system was selected due its small footprint and high payload, allowing the system to be fitted with all the advanced equipment required.
Kevin Taylor, FET’s Vice President – Operations Subsea, said: “This award supports our company’s long-term strategy, FET 2030, to expand our role in an increasing trend of defence bodies investing in their subsea capabilities. We are bringing decades of offshore deepwater remote vehicle expertise to supply defence equipment and services to various countries across Europe and Asia.
“Prior to this award, FET has secured over 20 ROV contracts with navies around the world and recently secured a contract to supply the Indonesian Navy with a submarine rescue vehicle (SRV) system, comprising of an SRV, and launch and recovery and decompression systems.
“We are thrilled that the qualities and strengths of our Super Mohawk vehicle have been recognised. Our hard-working team at Kirkbymoorside in the UK will build the ROV to meet the customer’s precise specifications and we look forward to working in collaboration with our new client.”
The Super Mohawk is a general purpose ROV system suitable for observation, survey, pipelay support, light to medium work and NDT inspections. The model was chosen for FET’s ability to meet its stringent specifications, backed by the company’s exemplary 24/7 technical support.
When delivered, the ROV will be equipped with several skids which are fitted with specific sensors requested by the client for its operations.
FET’s ROVs are used globally to support underwater industry applications, including in defence, traditional and sustainable energy, telecommunications, mining, aquaculture and academia.
